By Charlaine Harris
Blurb:
There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart...
Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.
Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.
But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough..

Candie's Review:
The last few Sookie books left much to be desired as her relationship with Eric Northman started to fizzle out. This disappointed me greatly, as Eric was always my dark horse for Sookie in the series. As time went on, I could tell where the series was headed and while I understand Charlaine’s choices for Sookie, they just didn't sit right with me.
Now, that being said, I did enjoy the book. The plot was excellent. Sookie was a pawn in many schemes gone awry and everyone wanted their vengeance. The inter-weaving subplots made the story go by quickly and I couldn’t wait to see how it would all turn out. I am very sad that this was Sookie’s last story as I enjoyed reading about her and the Bon Temps crew over the years. I’m glad that after all her turmoil and heartache she found her happily ever after. At least I can still watch True Blood for my Bon Temps fix (aka Eric Northman fix).
