(Gabriel's Inferno, Bk #2)
By Sylvain Reynard
Blurb:
Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former student, Julia Mitchell. Sequestered on a romantic holiday in Italy, he tutors her in the sensual delights of the body and the raptures of sex. But when they return, their happiness is threatened by conspiring students, academic politics, and a jealous ex-lover.
When Gabriel is confronted by the university administration, will he succumb to Dante's fate? Or will he fight to keep Julia, his Beatrice, forever?
In Gabriel's Rapture, the brilliant sequel to the wildly successful debut novel, Gabriel's Inferno, Sylvain Reynard weaves an exquisite love story that will touch the reader's mind, body, and soul, forever.

Viviana's Review:
Book two in the "Gabriel's Inferno" series does not disappoint!! I will admit that I had this book sitting on my shelf for a while. I didn't want to read it and have to wait for the third book to be released. I wanted everything to be fresh! I did go back to the first book and reread the last few chapters as a way to 'catch up' with old friends, so to speak. Glad I did as "Gabriel's Rapture" picks up right where we last left Gabriel and Julia!

Many of the things I LOVED about the first book were also included in "Gabriel's Rapture". The history! The locations! The Alpha Male :) LOL!! The character development and the smooth writing style that Mr. Reynard has become known for continues and I thank him for it! He has a way of describing a scene, a location, an item with great detail and feelings yet, it doesn't feel overly done. You don't get that "Alright, enough already! I get it! It's BEAUTIFUL!" thought or feeling while reading. You can almost picture it, as if you were watching a movie or actually there! Needless to say that many of the locations have been added to my "Must Visit" list!
In "Gabriel's Rapture" we get to learn more about Gabriel's and Julia's past. We also get to see their relationship develop and grow as they continue to get to know each other as well as deal with things and circumstances that are beyond their control. Some things are handled well and some, not so much. Throughout the entire story, you see and feel the passion they have for each other and everyone (yes, them and you) question whether that passion will destroy them. Thankfully, they have more than just passion going for them. Yes, their story is extremely romantic and well, people it's a contemporary romance! Come on!!
While there are a few "Romance Tropes", I will say that it was beautifully done. You see the trope and you do go "oh boy, here we go...." BUT this is so well written and their story is so involved/complicated that it just fits. It's exactly what the characters would do!! It's the classic thought of "That's so what Gabriel would do"!
I mentioned character development! Both Gabriel and Julie grow as individuals and as a couple. Julia continues to blossom into a stronger woman and Gabriel learns that he doesn't have to keep everyone as arms length. The pace of this is also great. Not too slow (where you want to hit the hero over the head for yet again making the exact same mistake he made a second ago) and not to fast (where you're thinking "Yup! This is fiction! No way they would learn that fast!" LOL).
