Viviana's Review:
Loved it! Jessica knows how to make you laugh and cry all within the same story! She has a gift for writing truth into her stories that tug at your heart.
"I'll Be Home For Christmas" is a holiday novella that gives us more insight into the sarcastic, smart-mouth and funny SGT Vic Carponti. I have a soft spot for him. Perhaps he reminds me of someone I know............. lol!
Jessica Scott's ability to give the readers an insight look at the military lifestyle, both of the soldier and that of the spouse is realistic and heartfelt. The relationship between the men in the unit and the women that love them is beautiful. The friendship between the guys and how they each handle things differently, both at work and their personal lives showcase the traditional male relationships and the sensitivity of their fears.
The woman are smart, individuals, and strong. I always said it takes a special person to be with a soldier. It takes a strong person who is devoted and committed to their relationship! As with any relationships, there are ups and down and one must work at staying together. Being with a soldier..... added stress and life changing possibilities are always on the horizon. We get to see a glimpse into the life of a soldier and their families.
One of the things I love about these stories, is that it takes the "taboo" out of the conversation. It brings to light, not only the major struggles of both the life of the soldier and that of their families but also the regular day to day struggles of being a soldier and their family. We owe our soldiers more than we are currently giving them. This includes our respect.

There's nothing in the world Army Sergeant Vic Carponti loves more than his wife and his country. Smart-mouthed and easy tempered, he takes everything as a joke . . . except his promise to come home to his wife, Nicole, for Christmas. As he prepares to leave for his latest deployment into Iraq, Vic will do everything he can to shield his beautiful, supportive wife from the realities of war . . . and from his own darkest fears.
As a career army wife, Nicole Carponti knows just what to expect from her husband's tour of duty: loneliness, relentless worry, and a seemingly endless countdown until the moment Vic walks through the door again. But when the unthinkable happens, Nicole and Vic's bond is tested like never before and changes everything they believe to be true about the power of love and the simple beauty of being home for the holidays.

Once I started reading "I'll Be Home For Christmas" I couldn't put it down. The characters came to life and their journeys each made an impact. This was a quick and easy read that gave you everything you would look in a great story: character development and growth, emotions (both on the page and that brought to the reader), ability to relate to one or more characters, and this being a romance..... the smexiness we all enjoy in our romance books! I cannot wait for the next installments in the Coming Home Series: "Back to You (Coming Home Series, #3) and "All For Your (Coming Home Series, #4).
Rating: 4.5 Stars - I REALLY LOVED IT!
