Funny, witty, and
sweet!! I was either laughing or giggling from the very beginning! Our heroine,
Parker, is an author and let say that like many authors, she ‘hears’ and ‘sees’
them. The interaction between them is a hoot! Also to hear what Parker actually thinks about
her characters, just makes you wonder if there are other authors out there who
have a similar distaste to their creations. Heheheehe
Yes, Parker comes
from money, but what I loved about her was that she didn’t act or behave like a
traditional heiress, nor did she react like one when her father loses. She held
herself together and came up with a plan! Sure, she had her moment of tears,
but she didn’t let them last, no pity party for her! She is definitely a great
role model and the type of heroine I wish were written more often.
James is our hero,
who also happens to be Parker’s father’s “Right Hand Man” and attorney. Always
professional and polite, he represents Mr. Wells not only in professional
circles but even in family functions, when Mr. Wells is too busy to attend
himself or couldn’t be bothered to make an appearance. He is also seen as “Just like my father” in
Parker’s eyes and that’s not a good thing as she doesn’t have a great, well not
even good relationship with her father. Needless to say, lots of tension
between Parker and James.
Ahhhh James!! Good
looking, smart (he’s a lawyer), and nice. What? Waiting for the bad boy
qualities to come out? Well, besides the fact that he’s dated a few ladies and
is very charming, there isn’t much of a “bad boy” in him! However, he’s good with
his hands!!! He’s a carpenter!! Jeez,
head out of the gutter!!
I loved the bantering between James and Parker! He’s trying to help her out. She thinks he’s only doing it because her father paid him to. He’s always had a major crush on her and she only remembers how he left her high and dry at a party. He’s being sincere and she thinks he has ulterior motives. There’s also lots of miscommunication. However, all of this leads to them getting to know each other, understanding that just being straight forward is significantly better (and easier) and it does create some very funny moments!!
