How I wish I had more time to read!!! I’m sure many of you feel the same way. October is a very, very busy month for us readers!! “All Things Urban Fantasy” has compiled a list and there are 102 new Paranormal titles releasing in October. Yes you read correctly, 102. The thing is, there are a few there were not included in their list (i.e. Dannika Dark's "Impulse")!! AND that’s only in one genre!! Holy Cow!!! Again, 102 (plus some that were not mention so wow again on the numbers) within only one genre! So Many Books, So Little Time!!!!
They’ve broken it up as follows, 52 Adult Titles & 50 YA Titles. From their Adult Titles I had “Kissed By A Vampire” by Caridad Piñeiro, “Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet” by Darynda Jones, and “Iced” by Karen Marie Moning on my radar and on my Anticipated Release page.
I will admit, I’m new to the YA Genre (always thought of it as more for teens) but with the recent increase of authors diving into the genre, I’m taking the plunge as well. However, “Death and the Girl Next Door” was on my list as she is one of my favorite PNR/UF authors. Do not worry, I have a few YA books on my TBR list, just none of them were Oct. releases.
The above doesn’t even make a dent to the list of books I have on my To Be Read (TBR) list. A few bookaholic friends and I say it’s more of a mountain than a shelf or list!! Truly, I try not to think about the sheer volume as I don’t want to freak myself out!! The list also shuffles. Depending on what I hear about a book or if my friends have read it gets bumped up (or in one or two cases, bumped down) the list.
So, how do you choose which book to read next? Do you alternate between genres? If you’re starting a new series, does the number of books play a part in the decision making process (i.e. do you start Black Dagger Brotherhood who has 10 books currently in the series, or do you start with a smaller series like Laura Wright’s Mark of the Vampire who has 4 books in the series out?). Ahh decisions, decisions!!
To help add to your Mountain TBR list, I’m giving away a $10 gift card to either Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
Thanks for hanging out with me today!!!

Hi Viviana!! I always have to start a series at the beginning. I like knowing the backstories and what's going on so that I don't feel lost or end up having more questions about the book than being able to just read and enjoy it. Thanks for the chance to win! And my TBR pile is pretty massive and growing daily!
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth H.! I start series at the beginning, too. There have been a few instances, where I've picked up a book and didn't realize it was part of a series. If I really like it, I'll start the series from the beginning. Otherwise, if it could be read as a standalone, then I'm okay with letting it be :)
