Penny Dreadful
(The Penny Dreadful Series, bk #1)

Blurb:
My name is Amanda Beth Lee, though most people call me Penny, and explaining to you my situation isn’t going to be easy, but here goes: I just moved to a new city to start a career with Mantel & Dolch, a prestigious firm that handles everything from marketing to legal services. I was brought in as a consultant, and my first big client, Dimitrii Maximov, turned out not only to be one of the most attractive men I’ve ever met, but he’s also a vampire. Yeah, I know! Now I’m trapped with the knowledge of this world, and am slowly learning that nothing is as it seems. Vampires, Werewolves, Elves, Mernoids and even Changelings are real, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Not only that, but women at my new job are slowly disappearing and turning up dead, and it looks like I’m the next target! Dimitrii’s promised to protect me, but the more time I spend with him, the more I want to spend time with him...

Candie's Review:
I really enjoyed the first book in the Penny Dreadful Series. It had all the elements in a book that I love; Goth style, sexy vampire alpha male, mystery, intrigue and a badass band.

Let me just say, Penny Lee has class! She dresses in a retro, old world style that makes her happy and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. I love that she has a strong sense of who she is despite having a rough time in her life.

Penny’s first assignment in her new job is to scout a location for a new club in the city for Dimitrii Maximov. Little does she know that her life would be completely turned around after meeting her new client. She is drawn to him immediately and tries her best to stay professional, as she doesn't want to cause any waves in the office. That is way easier said than done, when it seems that Dimitrii is just as interested in her as she is him. Their relationship quickly escalates when Penny is in danger at the office when her co-workers are turning up dead and Dimitrii wants to keep her safe.

I highly recommend this book, as I could hardly put it down. I am eagerly awaiting book two in the series that comes out later this year.

Rating: 4 Stars - I Loved It!
