Hi Eve!! Welcome to Audiobook Lovin! Thrilled you’re joining us this year! Tell us a bit about yourself, how long have you’ve been writing and how you get started?

So delighted for the invite. My name is Eve Langlais, a Canadian author in my forties who started writing in 2009 on a dare from my husband. Turns out it’s addictive and now I can’t stop, lol.

Where do you get the ideas for your books?

Everywhere! LOL. I get story ideas from just about anything; sometimes inspired by music I hear, a clip on the news, or my favorite kind, when I start playing the ‘What if…’ game in my head.

You currently have 103 audiobooks listed in Audible divided as follows:

With the heavy hitters being the Romance genre and sub-genre being paranormal! What do you love about the genre you write in?

I love stories with a happily ever after. Romantic tension, and the chase really appeal to me, as does adding things that go bump in the night, or growl in the woods, lol. I’ve always had a vivid imagination and fascination with the paranormal. Writing has given me an outlet to explore new worlds and fall in love over and over.

What made you decide to have your books in the audio format?

Why not? LOL. I’m a big believer in having books as accessible as possible whether that be print, ebook or even audio. I love that audio has given people who might be visually impaired or don’t have time to sit down to read, an option that suits their lifestyle. Audio can be listened to in the car, when you jog/walk, do housework, etc… It’s a great way to turn mundane tasks into something fun.

The casting of narrator(s) is very important…. For the titles you were involved in selecting the narrator(s), what is it that you look for when casting them?

Choosing a narrator was harder than I expected because most sound really good. To fine tune the options, I have them read a favorite passage. I listen and do my best to discern if they’ve captured the essence of the character and if their tone suits the mood and style. Then I hope I chose right, lol. It surprised me when I started having the choice that not one narrator fits all jobs. Hence why you’ll see a variety of who I think suited the voice of the story best.

Do you work closely with the narrators and provide them with information about each character to ensure their performance is accurate (for example - accents and personalities)?

I mostly let them develop it with only minimal guidance. I don’t want to force them into something that doesn’t feel natural. For the most part, they grasp very well the intent of my books and bring them to life.

Before we go… what are you working on now & what’s next?

We are just about to see the first Chimera Secrets book emerge in Audio. A Nurse for the Wolfman has the awesome Troy Duran narrating and he is freaking amazing. He really brought the story to life and I hope people love it.
