Audiobook Lovin 2021Presents: Audiobooks Everywhere!

Welcome to Audiobook Lovin!

Its been seven years since the Audiobook Loivn' launched and my love of audiobooks continues to grow and I hope you enjoy this year's event!!

According to APA (Audio Publishers Association) sales of audiobooks rose 12% in 2020 and this year it's heading in that same direction... UP. By the way, that 12% equals $1.3 Billion. You an find more info about the trends by clicking here

Even with audiobooks being extremely popular, a common question that pops up here and there every so often is "Where do you get your audiobooks?"

For many, the answer is "Audible" but there are other audiobook vendors out there!

Below are some of the more popular and liked vendors.

All of the above listed either provide audiobooks for purchase individually or you can purchase a monthly subscription.

Chirp is one of the newest vendors and they are quickly becoming very popular due to the awesome sales they have. You should check out their "Featured Deals" where some audiobooks are up to 95% off! Subscribe to their newsletter and you'll get emails with the latest/newest featured titles.

For the Bibliophiles devouring several audiobooks a week (or days), there are other options that won't break the bank...

In this magical place you can borrow the books for FREE! Yes, that magic word too! FREE! This is where it gets better... they have them in different formats  - paperback, ebooks and audiobooks!!

If you were going to say that your "library is SMALL" or that you "live in a rural..." location and don't have access to a libary, we live in a GLOBAL world where many of the libraries are reducing physical inventory but working with neighboring (and at times, larger cities) areas to enhance their electronic inventory! Many libraries now have "non residential" options! You can pay a small fee (usually a yearly fee) and you will get access to their library catalog! Now, the fee may be up to $50, however, that is still less than you'd pay for a year's subscription with Audible AND you will be able to listen to more than one book a month.

Libraries are working with third party vendors like Overdrive and Hoopla Digital to bring you the awesomeness that are audiobooks!!

Overdrive is a great provider that lends eBooks, audiobooks, music and video!

Overdrive works with every major Device!
With Kindle® compatibility (U.S. only), apps for every major platform and OverDrive Read, your digital library service is compatible with every major device on the market. Visit the website for more information!

HooplaDigital is actually one of my favorites and I use it
 ALL THE TIME!!
Instantly borrow free ebooks, audiobooks, digital movies, music, and more, 24/7 with your library card.

These are just some resources that many libraries have that allow its patrons to listen to audiobooks. I hope that you go and find out what your local library has to offer and SIGN UP!!! Remember it's FREE!!! You can't beat that AWESOME deal!!!

Aside from winning audiobooks via giveaways another possible way to get audiobooks is to review them. Lots of authors have ALC (Advance Listener Copy) teams that get to listen to the audiobook prior to being released and in exchanged for an honest review. Authors may post in their reader groups asking for new ALC team members or post publicly. Alternatively, you can also check with the author themselves. Asking never hurts, right? Nope. Just remember that you're getting the audiobook in exchange for the review. Each team may have different rules on how, when, where to post the reviews so always make sure you can follow through on your end.

I hope this all helps! Have more questions? Leave them in the comments below and we'll try to answer them as best as we can.

  1. I've bought a number of books from both Chirp and LibroFM, which has monthly deals and also has some other deeply discounted books. I used to buy a lot of books directly from Tantor until they quit selling direct to the consumer a couple of years ago.
